2. HARLOW EXPERIENCES IN INSULATION
Young rhesus macaques were separated from their mother and placed in the “pit of despair” of Harlow with only a single bottle of water. The purpose of the experiment was to test the effects of isolation on the development of a child and the depressions that can result from it. Not surprisingly, baby monkeys have sunk into depression. They also developed physical problems like poor digestion. Let’s not be surprised if they want to regain control of the Earth after that.
